2009 RAISE Texas Action Summit: Expanding Opportunities for Texans

The Summit

This year's RAISE Texas Action Summit recapped progress made in the 2009 legislative session and review local successes in advancing the four action campaigns into 2010:

Alternative Small-Dollar Consumer Loan Products and Policies: Recommend product innovations to offer alternatives to payday loans and promote consumer protections in this area.
Community Tax Centers and EITC Campaigns: Create or expand community tax centers and access to free tax prep assistance in urban and rural areas of Texas.
Expanding Access to Education: Build support for policies and programs that facilitate broader access to postsecondary education and training, including college savings accounts, affordable student loans, workforce development and enhanced financial aid.
Matched Savings Accounts: Develop campaign for raising possible match funds and strengthening statewide IDA network.

This summit brought Texas asset-building stakeholders together to update and design new action plans for the four campaigns.
